What is space?
Space is nothing – or almost nothing. It is the space that lies between the Earth and the Moon, between the planets of the Solar System, and between the stars. Space is almost empty. It does not contain any air. A piece of space the size of a house would contain a few atoms of gases and perhaps some specks of dust. Here and there meteoroids and comets move through space.
